"Native American Flute Private Lessons for Beginners"

The beauty of the Native American flute is that there is no requirement to learn music theory or to be able to read sheet music. It can be played by ear, by heart, or as an expression from the soul. However, there are some tips, tricks, and techniques that can be learned that will make the learning experience much faster and so much more pleasant.
We offer private lessons in person in the Ocala, FL area, or by Skype (by internet) anywhere in the world that you can get an internet connection. We are available weekdays, weekends, daytime or evening.

How do I take lessons using Skype?
1 )If you have a computer, like a laptop with a built in webcam, or a desktop with an external webcam and microphone (plugs into USB port)
2) and a good internet connection. Sometimes WIFI works fine, but if not, you can try plugging your computer directly into your internet modem using an Ethernet cable.
3) Go to www.skype.com and download a free version for PC (Windows) or MAC depending which you need.
4) Launch Skype and select Create new account.
5) Go to Contacts.
Select the add contact icon or click directly in the search text box and type the name, Skype name or email of the person you want to add. Click Search Skype .
Select your friend from the search results and click Add to Contacts.
Type a quick note to introduce yourself and then click Send.
The person is added to your contact list, but will appear offline until they accept your request. After they’ve accepted your request, you can see when they’re online and make free voice and video calls with them.

Lessons are scheduled by appointment only and paid for in advance of appointment.
Please make sure you are available, online, have your flute or drum in hand, and ready to start at your appointed time. The lesson will begin and end at the appointed time unless internet technical difficulties occur. If technical problems do occur, your lesson will either be extended if it’s convenient for both parties, or you will receive a time credit to be used at a later date. Or, you will receive a refund if Skype does not work out at all for you.

Length: 1.5 hours (class size limited to 20 participants) Cost: $20

However, there are some tips, tricks, and techniques that can be learned that will make the learning experience much faster and so much more pleasant. We will provide instruction on basic breathing techniques, hand and mouth placement, and other basic playing techniques. The class is tailored toward beginners, but anyone of any ability is welcome.
Attendees may bring their own flutes, or we will have flutes to borrow for this workshop. We will also have quality flutes available for purchase.

“Beginning your Journey of Self Expression Through the Native American Flute”
Length: 1.5 hours (class size limited to 20 participants) Cost: $20
During this workshop, we will encourage participants to embark on a journey of personal self expression through the music of the Native American flute. Participants may just simply listen to others play, or learn to play this beautiful instrument from the heart without the need for music theory or notation.
We will provide instruction on basic breathing techniques, hand and mouth placement, and other basic playing techniques that will facilitate their journey of musical self expression through the Native American flute. The class is tailored toward beginners, but anyone of any ability is welcome.
Attendees may bring their own flutes, or we will have flutes to borrow for this workshop. We will also have quality flutes available for purchase.

“Our Rhythmic Connection” (drumming)
Length: 1 hour (class size limited to 20 participants) Cost: $15
During this workshop, we will encourage participants to embark on a journey of connection with others through rhythm. We will provide instruction on basic cooperative drumming skills that will facilitate the group’s ability to express themselves individually, yet connect as a whole and become energized and empowered as a group through synchronized rhythm. The class is tailored toward beginners, but anyone of any ability is welcome.
Attendees are encouraged to bring along their own hand drums (djembes preferred) or we will have djembes to borrow for this workshop. We will also have quality drums available for purchase.

**Rates are subject to change and are based on workshops presented in the Ocala FL area. Workshops presented outside the Ocala FL area will need to include added travel expenses.
